Our practice will take place in a quiet corner of Lumphini Park, right in the center of Bangkok. We will start the session with meditation and Pranayama (breathing exercises), moving on to asana flows. During the retreat, we will be performing healing and strengthening exercises. Thanks to the small size of the class, the class can be tailored to individual needs and skills. Yogis of all levels are welcome to join! (The time of the yoga practice is approximately 90 minutes) Yoga helps you learn about your body, how to fix posture, balance and pains, while making you stronger. It is not a competitive practice, and it should be lived as a tool for improving yourself inside and out. Join the practice and experience the rejuvenating power of yoga! Day 1 We will be setting off from our meeting point in Chiang Mai at 9am sharp. Driving through Doi Inthanon National Park (Thailand's tallest mountain) and stopping off for a Thai lunch in Mae Chaem town. From there we will be continuing the journey up the mountain, until we reach our unique Karen village. Once you reach the village, you will be greeted by our team who will take you to and introduce you to your homestay. You will then go to our basehut to receive a welcome presentation, go through the regulations, have a base hour and a presentation. You will then have time to explore the village. In the evening, you will cook together with your homestay and receive a blessing from them. If requested, the woman will show you their hand-made woven goods. You will also have the opportunity to learn how to basket weave from one of the elders in the village. Other things to note We will meet at Sleep with you hostel in Chiang Mai. A packing list will be sent to your before arrival. Day 2 On day two, you will wake early for a basic western breakfast before heading out to find the elephants in the forest. Once we have tracked the elephants, you will spend the morning following and observing them in their natural habitat. You will eat lunch in the forest with the elephants, before hiking back to the village to shower. There will be optional community projects in the afternoon depending on how many people we have and what we have planned for the day. This can include doing a litter pick up, learning more about our research, doing a biohike or learning the local language. Day 3 Your final day will be spent hiking in the morning to find the rest of our elephant herd (you may not have seen them all on the first day), spending the day observing them and learning about our data collection, before returning to Chiang Mai in the afternoon. At Grandma’s Home Cooking School, we do not only teach you how to cook traditional Thai dishes but also culturally give you some tricks so you can adapt, find substitute ingredients in your own country, cook by yourself, and spend time cooking with your beloved family. After picking you up from the hotel, we will spice up your morning with a small journey to a local Thai fresh market. There, you will experience the actual culture and vibe of the people in the community.
