Learn how to cook & throw the Ultimate Dumpling Dinner Party
Dumplings are a San Francisco staple, you'll learn how to make them from scratch in this hands-on cooking class & 3-course dinner party! Discover the secrets of creating fresh dumpling wrappers, building flavorful sauces, and mastering the art of folding beautiful dumpling pleats. Now booking through August! It's perfect for a unique date night, as a family cooking activity, as a team building offsite, or just on your own -- a class suitable for all levels, from new to seasoned chefs. Start with a blind tasting of my favorite soy sauces to deeply understand and appreciate umami. Then, learn traditional dumpling making skills: dough kneading, skin rolling, and pleating. We'll use a family recipe for a mouthwatering pork stuffing. (For non-pork eaters, a delicious tofu-based stuffing is offered) Once you've created your batch of dumplings, you'll create your very own secret dipping sauce. We'll also enjoy a pork belly braise: a classic Shanghaineese dish that highlights the umami of soy sauce using local, organic pork, and finish with a red bean dessert -- you'll be in a food coma at the end of the experience! You'll also take home a recipe guide. Private bookings available for team builds and custom classes! Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or expanding your cooking skills, the Dumpling Dinner Party is a must-try experience.
Pottery in the Mission
We will start with some of the interesting history of the studio space. Then I will get you situated on the wheel and show you how to properly secure your lump of clay. After the clay is secured we start the wheel spinning nice and fast. I will show you how to center the clay which is a very important (and frustrating) stage of making pottery on the wheel. After we successfully center the clay, you will explore how the clay moves and reacts to your touch. We will work to form a simple shape such as a bowl or cup. To finish off we will do some clean up of the form and remove the piece from the wheel in order to start experimenting with the next piece. You can expect to get to practice with around 6 lumps of clay (more if you are ambitious) and most people will create 2-3 pieces by the end of the session. Pieces will be professionally finished, fired, and glazed after the experience. This process takes at least 3 weeks. After the pieces are finished you can pickup in the studio or they can be shipped. Shipping costs are paid by the guest. Other things to note Come wearing clothes that you don't mind getting messy. We will provide aprons. If you have long hair plan to have a hair tie or a way to secure your hair back. Trim long nails if you are able.

San Francisco Bay Sailing Awesomeness
Get a taste for what an awesome experience living, working and voyaging on a sailboat can be, while viewing fantastic landmarks from the uncrowded deck, using sustainable and eco friendly wind power. Perhaps choose an evening sail, and enjoy a wonderful sunset. We will be outside only, with plenty of space, breathing clean Pacific air! Get a little salty while we sail and chat about what it's like going far from land and crossing oceans, from endless waves and wind, to calm nights under starry skies. Get a feel for what it's like to live and thrive in a constantly moving small space, in a beautiful but unforgiving environment. Hear what it's like to battle Tuna and Sailfish while under sail, and have the freshest sushi minutes later. And to anchor in tropical anchorages, bathe in the sea, and surf uncrowded waves right from the boat. Ask as little or as much as you like about surviving storms, living in foreign countries, meeting great cruising friends, and unplugging from normal living to find another path. Perhaps, ask how you can get started yourself. Spend time aboard a beautiful, ocean-going yacht that has provided a safe and peaceful haven for her crew over the span of two decades in a green, earth friendly fashion.
